A Quick Fall Update and Thanksgiving

I headed out to Oklahoma again, as Dad had another knee surgery. This time it was a total knee replacement.

Santa Claus going on Holiday

While I was at the airport, I spotted Santa Claus. He must have been sneaking in a holiday before the Christmas rush. Ha ha.

Since it’s considered “major surgery,” Dad needed to recover in the hospital for a few days, but before anytime at all, he was home and hobbling around with a walker. The pain was excruciating and not what he expected. But… My father is stubborn, so he was way ahead of schedule in his recovery. I think he got his staples out at about three weeks.

Getting Staples Removed

Of course, I had to add little touches of Fall to the house. I enjoyed the cooler, more seasonal weather.

Dad progressed quickly from the walker to a cane…

Unfortunately, he was forced to make some tough decisions regarding the care of my Stepmom. Lewy Body Dementia is an awful disease and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Oklahoma Skies

After about a month in Oklahoma, I got home just in time for Thanksgiving. I set a pretty table for breakfast, but we went out to eat for dinner.

It was just us, as usual, and my son’s girlfriend.

Just for the record… We will never cook on Thanksgiving again. Ever. We had such a great time.Thanksgiving

We all ate and drank until we were stuffed. The only thing I’d do differently next year is order another dinner to go, for leftovers the next day. It was a little on the pricey side, but when you consider there was no stress, or dishes to do, or mess to clean up… Well worth it, in my opinion.

After dinner we went home to a clean house, and snuggled on the couch watching movies.

And of course… We had seconds on dessert!

Now it’s time for Christmas fun!
