I headed out to Oklahoma again, as Dad had another knee surgery. This time it was a total knee replacement.

Santa Claus

While I was at the airport, I spotted Santa Claus. He must have been sneaking in a holiday before the Christmas rush. Ha ha.

Dad's Sexy Yellow Hospital Socks! Bahahaha!

Since it’s considered a “major surgery,” Dad needed to recover in the hospital for a few days before coming home.

Fur Siblings

It was fun to hang out with the puppies and Mutt for a while, and I was happy to be there for my Stepmother, who has Lewy Body Dementia.

Getting his staples removed

Before anytime at all, Dad was home and hobbling around with a walker. The pain was excruciating and not what he expected. But… My father is stubborn, so he was way ahead of schedule in his recovery. I think he got his staples out at about three weeks, and while there, the Dr. said he was already where they wanted him to be at the six-week mark.

Of course, I had to add little touches of Fall to the house. I enjoyed the cooler, more seasonal weather.

Dad progressed quickly from the walker to a cane…

Still Dad

Unfortunately, he was forced to make some tough decisions regarding the care of my Stepmom. Lewy Body Dementia is an awful disease and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Gorgeous Oklahoma Skies

After about a month in Oklahoma, I got home just in time for Thanksgiving.

Watching a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

I set a pretty table for breakfast, but we went out to eat for dinner.

It was just us, as usual, and my son’s girlfriend.

The kids!

Yummy Pretzel Bread

Just for the record… We will never cook on Thanksgiving again. Ever. We had such a great time.

Turkey dinner

My son and I were the only ones who ordered Turkey, but everyone was happy. We all ate and drank until we were stuffed.

Not Turkey

The only thing I’d do differently next year is, I would order another dinner to go for leftovers the next day. That was the only thing missing.

Not Turkey Either

It was a little on the pricey side, but when you consider there was no stress, or dishes to do, or mess to clean up… Well worth it, in my opinion.

After dinner we went home to a clean house, and snuggled on the couch watching movies.

And of course… We had seconds on dessert!

Now it’s time for Christmas fun!
