New Year’s Eve was quiet, and again, uneventful. New Year’s Day was spent relaxing and celebrating my son’s birthday.

Filloas Follado

For dinner on New Year’s Day, my husband cooked some traditional Spanish dishes, Filloas and a Spanish Omelet. Filloas are basically crepes and sugar. Actually, the region where my husband comes from, la Costa da Morte, they don’t call them Filloas, they’re called Follados. Follado is a dirty word in Spanish and I have no idea why they call them that???????

Anyway, Filloas take a super long time to prepare, so we hardly ever have them. But it was delish!

Just another example of our exciting life. Yawn.

14th Birthday!

And while everyone else was busy putting away their Christmas Trees, I was busy putting my newest tree up.

Fairy Tale Tree

I bought a new “little tree” for my bedroom. I’ll keep it up all year. I won’t change out the ornaments to match the season, like I do my little tree in the living room. This tree is staying the same all year. I decided to take some of the ornaments off of my colored Christmas Tree so that I can enjoy them all year long. It’s my new “Fairy Tale Tree.” I have decided that while I’m in this house, one regular Christmas Tree is enough, so this will be the alternative. Sooo…. I bought a small Vienna Twig Tree and went to town. I think it looks very nice, and my husband likes it as well. I don’t really give a fig what anyone else thinks. It makes ME happy and that’s all that counts. I’ll tweak it along the way. Am I a little nutty? A little weird? A little Whimsical? Yes, yes I am. There are worse things to be.
