Happy New Year!
So far, all the New Year has brought me is a virus. (Insert throat clearing and gagging.) I am feeling so sick. Bah…
It’s like 2016 is trying to tell me something. Whatever…
I hope everyone had a nice New Year’s Eve celebration. We did. For dinner, my husband made Prime Rib. It was delish! Sometimes, he really outdoes himself. The only thing missing was the broiled lobster tails. Next time!
For my table setting… I purchased the hat, noise-makers, and photo-props at Walmart. I thought they looked a little cheesey, so I altered them with my own ribbon, and sheet music. And then, I added some clock faces.
I love the way the napkins came out. They’re perfect for New Years Eve. It’s called a bow-tie fold. You need two napkins, or one napkin and a ribbon. Here’s a link to a video that shows you how to do it.
As far as resolutions go, I want to continue on the path to health and fitness. And, I’d like to find some inner-peace. I think I’m sorely lacking in that department.
My son’s birthday is in between Christmas and New Year’s (It stinks!), so we celebrated with cake tonight.
I made a whimsical cake with a winter theme. I think it came out really nice. The “block of ice” in the back, lights up and changes colors.
I want to start experimenting with fondant. Hopefully, this year, there’ll be time for that.
Happy 16th B’day, babe!
I also made a batch of my semi-homemade brownies. You can find my recipe here.
After dinner, we attempted to watch a movie. I say attempted because, we all dropped off, one at a time. Yawn! My brother-in-law, fortunately, woke up in time, to wake the rest of us, for the ball drop.
Instead of the Traditional “Best year ever!” New Year wishes, I’ll just say this… I hope that 2016 brings you more moments of joy, than of sorrow. In the end, it’s really all we can hope for.
