I just got back from a trip to see my Dad and Step-Mom in Oklahoma. It was just me this time, so I flew in. Thank goodness.
It isn’t possible for us to make the trip at Christmas, but I still wanted to see them. It’s tough being so far away, especially over the holidays.
We decorated a little bit, and tried to get into the Christmas Spirit.
Once we were finished, it was so cozy in the house. I love the way it came out.
I have quite a few “fur-siblings” and they add an extra element of warmth and coziness to the house.
We went to the annual Christmas Parade in town. It was a typical small town parade, but it was fun and very festive. It was also very cold. Brrr…
The elves were kinda creepy!
I love my Dad’s hat! Ha!
After the parade, we drove thru the town’s light show…
I love the cow, and all of the “Oklahoma specific” lights.
We spent a day antique shopping. There are tons of antique and thrift shops scattered all over the place out there. It’s even more fun because they have different types of antiques than I’m used to seeing in Florida, or anywhere else. They have tons of cowboy and Native American stuff.
I made a new friend! If it were only that easy…
We went out to eat a few times. I’m still fascinated by all of the Western/Pioneer themed atmosphere.
I asked my Dad what type of place ‘Sadies’ was. He said he thought it was a bar/strip club. Hmm… “Sadie’s painted ladies” comes to mind. I guess it makes sense.
Of course, we spent a lot of time at home, just hanging out together and relaxing.
I tried to go for a run one morning, but it was too cold for me. I couldn’t get warmed up. It turned into a nice, very short walk.
We skyped with my sister and the kids. I miss them so much, my heart hurts.
I couldn’t go to my Dad’s without visiting the Prairie Dog Town.
Our time together was too short, but definitely better than nothing.
I’m not sure when we’ll be able to get together again. I’m hoping at most, sometime in the Summer.
I’ll miss them all!
