Our Thanksgiving 2015

Hi, gang! I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was quiet, relaxing and full of gluttony. Our holiday started off with a trip to the pie shop.

The line to get in was out the door, but so very worth the trouble. All I can say is… “Yummmmm.” They have the best pies ever!

I haven’t really celebrated Thanksgiving properly in many years, so I don’t have that many decorations. Once Halloween is over, I usually go straight to Christmas. Without extended family around, and thinking about how it was my Mom’s favorite holiday, the whole sentiment of thankfulness is usually (and admittedly, selfishly) lost on me. My brother-in-law just moved in with us a few months ago, so I thought it was the right time to start giving the day all the pomp it deserves.

My Mom had made those pine cone turkeys, when I was a little girl.

Most of my other “Thanksgiving” decorations are what’s left from Halloween. If it wasn’t Halloween specific, I kept it out.

It actually turned out to be a nice day. It wasn’t as seasonal (cold) as the days prior, but it wasn’t unbearably hot or humid either. As far as I’m concerned, I would love it to be 50 degrees or less from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. Without a change of seasons, cold weather is all I can hope for.

And of course, we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while we prepped for dinner.

Over appetizers, we face timed with Spain. My sister-in-law and niece were spending the holiday with my husband’s parents and family.

It looks like they were all having a great time. I’m envious!

And here’s my Thanksgiving Table this year… Nothing over the top, but it looked nice.

After stuffing our faces, we napped and watched some football…

Around 10 o’clock in the evening, we forced ourselves to have dessert. And, I do mean forced. We were all still pretty full from dinner. But, it was Thanksgiving so, what the heck…

I couldn’t eat another bite. Not a single one. We actually saved the apple pie and ice cream for the next day.

The face on that Turkey… That’s how I felt getting up from the table. Uggh…

Well, that’s another Thanksgiving for the books. It was pretty nice. I hope your’s was as well.
