While out in Vegas, we decided to explore Red Rock Canyon. It was beautiful, but so stinkin’ cold. Brrr…
Living in Florida, I really miss the beauty of the mountains. What a breathtaking view! We had originally agreed to climb to the top of Turtle Peak, but we arrived a lot later than planned. Since we had less time, we had to pick a different trail. In hindsight, I think it was a blessing. It was too cold and windy. At one point, I was thanking God. I’m not kidding.
The scenery was beautiful, but it was definitely a workout.
We were hoping to see some wildlife, and maybe some bighorn sheep. But, short of a few birds, nothing. The rangers said it was pretty busy, so the sheep probably retreated up high. I think the weather kept all the other critters inside.
My sister-in-law is just as crazy as the rest of us. In honor of being in Las Vegas, here she is doing her best Elvis impression.
We definitely know how to have fun!
We saw so many different kinds of trees, and plants. I picked up a few pinecones along the way, for my collection.
After climbing for about three miles, we finally reached the top to find La Madre Spring. My legs were crying. We took a little break to enjoy the fairytale quality of the spring, and then turned around to go back. Thank goodness it was all downhill from there.
After our hike, we went back to the hotel for showers and a well deserved nap. We had dinner and drinks at The Bellagio.
The best part of the Bellagio, is the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. I had to stop in to take some pictures. I think this is the most Whimsical time of year!
After a relaxing evening at The Bellagio, we headed back to The Cosmopolitan for some gambling.
I was thrilled to walk away with an extra 200 bucks from the Black Jack table.
I was up about 80 bucks on the Wheel of Fortune slots, but lost it all back. You win some, you lose some. Sigh…
We were all up early the next day for check out. It all went by so fast.
We went back to The Aria for some last minute shopping.
Most high-end fashion is beautiful and very high quality… But sometimes, it’s just plain weird.
We had to rub Buddah’s belly for good luck!
The Aria has an awesome Patisserie. We all bought a little something to bring home.
After the Aria, I insisted on going back to the Bellagio Conservatory to get some pictures during the daylight hours.
How magical are these guys? I love everything about them. They’re called Ents, and they hail from Middle Earth. They are very “Lord of the Rings-like.” Sigh…
And the talking tree… Squeal! I just love this display!
That was pretty much the end of our Vegas trip. Lastly, we headed over Caesars to kill some time and grab a quick bite to eat.
We had a blast, but it’s time to go home and get ready for the Holidays!
