We spent Fourth of July weekend at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
The resort has a whimsical, sun and sand theme. It was the perfect place to spend the holiday weekend.
I was super excited to get one of the renovated rooms. It was great!
I love that picture. So sweet… Every room needs a little Disney Magic.
We had another great view… Stormalong Bay!
We didn’t have time to do much the first night, as we arrived after work. We had a nice family dinner at the Captain’s Grille, and then got stuck in the room, due to a storm.
We were pretty disorganized the next morning, so it was another late start.
I love the special desserts that Disney makes for all the different holidays. I really wanted to get this cupcake, but I thought better of it. I probably should have just had it. My diet flew out the window shortly after this picture was taken. One measly, 800 calorie cupcake wasn’t even going to make the slightest difference at that point. Sheesh. I was very bad. Very bad.
The boys enjoyed the pool. It was neat to be able to see them from the room. We didn’t go to the parks this time… It was too hot!!! We slept in, and did a lot of eating. And drinking… And eating… And so on…
Dinner that night was at Shula’s Steakhouse, at the Walt Disney World Dolphin.
The atmosphere is dark and masculine, and has a football theme. I think everyone enjoyed it.
The steak was great, and the sides were amazing. I cheated big time, and it didn’t stop there.
For dessert, we shared an apple cobbler and a chocolate lava cake.
After dinner… The kids went back to the room, my husband went to take care of the dogs, and my sister-in-law and I went to Jellyrolls.
We had fun. Silly fun! Adult Disney fun.
We went through three? bowls of popcorn, and countless drink refills. I can’t wait to do it again!
My husband joined us last minute, and walked us back to the resort. He thinks he’s so funny. He sent my sister-in-law this text from the room. Funny thing is… My sister-in-law wasn’t in much better shape than me.
The next morning, we took a stroll around the resort.
They have lots of turtles, fish and…
Gators! We spoke to one of the Cast Members who said they are well taken care of, and relocated once they become too big. I asked if this one had a name. He laughed and said,”No.” No? How could a Disney gator not have a name?
I think I’ll call him Adalbert. Adalbert the Alligator. There you go…
After our nature walk, we headed out to Downtown Disney. Or should I say, “Disney Springs.”
Downtown Disney is still a big mess with all the construction. But, what is finished, is looking very good. I’m really impressed.
We had a lunch reservation at the Boathouse.
Yes, Please!
More good food! We’ll be back again for dinner.
I had my heart set on riding in an amphicar, but it was just too darn hot. It’s too much money to pay, to not enjoy the whole experience. Next time…
How about a little Steampunk fun, courtesy of the new store, Chapel Hats?!
The hats are gorgeous, and have a price tag to match. The leather ones start around $350 and go up to about $500 something. The non-leather hats start at $120 and up. I would love to bring home the whole collection, but I have to pay the mortgage first. Sigh…
We finished out the holiday weekend with a trip to Beaches and Cream. More fattening goodness awaited.
Yummy!
Wow!
Oh, man. Mickey’s Kitchen Sink!
While everyone else was gathered in the Solarium watching the Women’s World Cup, we found some tables to enjoy our ice cream.
Demolished!
And, another holiday weekend bites the dust. The good news? There’s more summer fun to come!
