We kicked off the summer with a trip to Disney. In celebration of their new movie, Monsters University, the Magic Kingdom pulled a 24 hour all-nighter.
Sulley and Mike were on hand to celebrate! I wanted to get pictures with them, but the boys didn’t want to waste their “ride time” on line. We had already waited in line over an hour to get Mickey and Minnie in their P.J.’s, but the line was going so slow that we would have been stuck there for 3 more hours. I left the line reluctantly.
There were lots of special Mike and Sully goodies to eat. I wanted one of those apples so bad… But I didn’t do it.
They were also having showings of the original Monsters Inc..
I cheated on my diet with Chili Cheese Fries from Pecos Bill’s. The boys didn’t even want to take the time to stop and eat. I had to force them to at least have some french fries.
We did some rides together…
But, after a quick romp through Fantasyland, they took off in search of mountains and runaway trains. We rode the people mover. Several times. Bahaha!
We met up with the kids again later at The Haunted Mansion.
And separated again. They didn’t even want to stop for a Dole Whip. Whaat??? Their loss. I was getting me a Dole Whip.
I really wanted my husband to go back and get a picture with Mike and Sully. He wasn’t giving in. I guess I really made him mad because he finally growled at me and said, “I’m not waiting on that line, Karen, don’t ask me again. C’mon, I’ll take you shopping.”
They had a few special event items for sale… I think I got the last shirt in the park. For real. I think a few people wanted to knock me down for it.
And then we sat down on a bench like a couple of old farts to wait for the kids and watch the dance party. I would have danced, but my blisters had blisters. It was rockin’ though.
I was tired and wilted but still having fun.
The characters came out to say goodnight.
Still partying until the final moments…
The boys were even tired now.
After singing the Good Bye song, “Now it’s time to say goodbye to all our company…,” they gave everyone a kiss goodnight! No one does it like Disney!
It was a long night and we were ready to go…
But it was a little strange leaving at sunrise. The ball was over. It was time to change back into pumpkins again.
When we arrived earlier in the evening, the parking lot to the Magic Kingdom was already full. On the way out, we had to take the Ferry, to the Monorail, to get back to EPCOT where we were parked.
The boys had finally lost their steam.
Ours was one of the last cars in the lot.
The kids slept the whole way home.
And my All-Nighter Haul?
I got the shirt, the special Mickey Ears, a little button (I love the orange bird) and some ornaments for my summer tree. I thought I had gotten Mike and Sulley too, but I guess I was tired and forgot. I’ll get them next time.
Now, off to nurse my blisters and take a nap.
