Williams-Sonoma Copycat

Have you seen this beautiful giclée print from Williams-Sonoma? It’s a copy of a French farm log from 1890.

It’s GORGEOUS isn’t it? But… Would you pay $1,195.00 for it?

Mine is a little different… Mine isn’t French, it isn’t a farm log and it isn’t a copy.

My document is a contract from Spain and it’s much older than 1890. It’s written in an older version of Gallego which I would compare to Olde English. My husband can barely read it. (Or so he said… Unless he just didn’t feel like taking the time to sit there and translate the whole thing for me.)

I just love how pretty the handwriting is, with all the lines and squiggles.

And to think that they don’t even teach cursive in school anymore. Sigh…

This document already belonged to my husband, and when I saw the one from Williams-Sonoma, I was inspired. Even if you don’t have any old documents lying around, you can find them at antique shows, flea markets and on EBay for less than $100.00. Many times you can find them for pennies.

I bought my frame from the Hobby Lobby when it was 50% off. I think it was $40.00. I already had the piece of burlap. I simply laid the document on top of burlap and framed it up.

I think mine is just as nice. Maybe even nicer… And mine didn’t cost $1,195.00.
