Thanksgiving 2011

We weren’t planning on spending Thanksgiving Day at home, but my Son got sick, and was sent home from school the day before. So… I ran around like a crazy lady, doing last minute shopping and cleaning, in order to salvage the day. I didn’t have the time or energy (or money) to go crazy. We had the basics, but nothing fancy.

I tried to set a nice table…

I love my Turkey napkins! And I love them even more because they were 100% FREE!

Liesl was looking forward to dinner more than we were… She and Gubler have been feasting on leftovers.

It was a nice day, but a lazy one. We relaxed, watched TV and did some Thanksgiving shopping at Michaels. I got some good deals on frames. We didn’t eat dinner until late and never even touched dessert.

If we’re home next Thanksgiving, I’ll be purchasing a ready made turkey, making the stuffing the day before, and leaving only the potatoes, veggies and bread to be prepared on Thanksgiving Day. It was way too much cooking to do the day of, for just the three of us. Another lesson learned.

CameraHopefully, I’ll be able to figure out how to use my new camera before Christmas, so that I can take some decent pictures.

I hate that you had a sick one, but a lazy day at home with lots of food sounds like Heaven to me! Of coarse, if I had to cook it all, I guess that would be a different story. Your table looked wonderful.

It sounds like you had a wonderful day. We had ham as well as turkey this year with all the side dishes. It was a good day with much to be thankful for. Enjoy the season, my friend.~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
