Antiques, Ice Cream and a Nature Walk at the Park

It’s been so HOT. None of us have felt like doing much. We tried to take the puppies to the Dog Park a few times, but Gubler barely makes it through the gate… Liesl runs around once or twice, says hello to friends, and then just gives up. I think we’ll wait for cooler weather to bring them out again.

On Saturday, Dear Husband actually broke down and took me antique shopping. I saw so many things that I wanted… Needed… Had to have… But couldn’t afford. Grrr….

At the Antique Mall

I was allowed to get a few little things, including these old books. They’re pretty neat.

Yesterday we went out for ice cream and a walk along the water. Actually, the only one who had ice cream was Dear Son. I can only have frozen yogurt, so I got a Diet Coke instead. Sigh…

Getting some Ice Cream

Everything looked so yummy, I wanted to cry. I think I did. Oh, gosh!

Getting some Ice Cream

You would think at Dear Son’s age, that he could eat an ice cream cone without making a mess, but no… I don’t know if it was him, or the heat, or a combination of the both… But that thing was melting faster than he could eat it. What a mess. Next time he’s getting a cup. (I say that every time.)

Love the sign!

Walking by the Water

After a little walk up and down the water, it started to rain, so we decided to head over to the park and walk along the nature trails instead.

Nature Walk

It was so dang humid on those trails… It was like being in a sauna. I must have sweat off a good ten pounds. I’m not complaining… It was just hard to see where I was going with all the sweat dripping into my eyes. I didn’t want to accidentally step on an alligator. To make things worse, a couple of size zeros went jogging past in their little bikini outfits… I don’t even think they had a single drop of moisture on their faces. I fantasized about sticking my foot out and tripping them. Psshhh… My pants were soaking wet and so heavy from sweat that I couldn’t even lift my leg high enough to do it…  Or I just might have.

Nature Walk

It turned out to be a very nice walk.

The camera is fogged up from the humidity. Yuck!

We saw lots of deer, birds, and turtles. I even picked up a few pinecones for my basket.

We took lots of pictures!

And we did get to see some gators. Only little ones… Babies.

Nature Walk

They were very cute… just a little bigger than my foot. I don’t even know how my husband spotted them.

Nature Walk

Maybe next time we’ll get to see some big guys.

Time to go home and cool off. Thank God!
