The Sacrament of Reconciliation

It’s been a busy couple of weeks around here as we prepared my Son for The Sacrament of Reconciliation, and for his First Holy Communion.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation

Boy, things have changed since I was little. There are no more dark confessionals, no screen, nothing… Everything is face to face. Dear Son was so nervous. I believe he confessed to the Monsignor that he wasn’t so nice to his parents all the time Smile Much to his relief, it was all over in less than a minute. With no major sins to confess, things went very quick. I think his penance was one “Our Father”, and one “Hail Mary.”

Dear Husband and I presented him with a robe that we had decorated for him, and he also received a ring as a gift from the parish… It is meant to symbolize the story of the Prodigal Son, who comes home to his father, repentant, after squandering his life away and giving in to sin. His father presents him with a very fine robe, a ring, and shoes as a way to celebrate his return, and show forgiveness.

He then pinned his name onto the Lamb of God.

We headed over to the cafeteria where the Men’s Club had prepared a nice breakfast.

Afterwards, they had clowns for face painting, and balloon animals, and all sorts of fun activities.

It was a great day!
