Heritage Village and The Florida Botanical Gardens

Heritage Village in Largo, is a “living history museum” that contains many different structures from different periods of Florida’s history. It’s a neat place to visit on a lazy day. The Pinellas County Historical Society had their 32nd Fall Jubilee here today.

They had crafters, food booths, musical performances and live history demonstrations. The vendors offered up your typical craft show wares, nothing too impressive. I was actually a little disappointedMy husband was thrilled. He was happy that I didn’t see anything that I wanted to buy.

Boy, this artwork sure looks familiar, lol. It was one of the best vendors there!

Even though the caliber of vendors was lacking, we had a blast exploring the village. My favorite was the mercantile… of course, lol.

They have a log cabin that is the oldest structure in Pinellas County. It’s a typical Florida “Cracker” log home of the pioneer period.

I just love to see how people used to work and live. It’s fascinating to see just how far we’ve come.

And there’s just something so nostalgic about an old fire engine. This one’s a 1917 La France Fire Engine.

Dear Son wasn’t impressed with the one room school house. School is school, I guess.

There’s lots of nice paths to explore and it’s a great place to bring the puppies for a walk. Dogs are allowed at Heritage Village and The Botanical Gardens. They just aren’t allowed inside the buildings at Heritage Village.

We didn’t see any gators today, but they’re in there somewhere.
