The Little Man’s Bathroom

Finally, the bathroom is put back together. We thought we’d get the whole thing done in less than three complete days… Nope.

We repaired the holes and the missing texture where the builders didn’t apply it properly. We then realized that the wall (all the way around) on top of the insert was bad, so we had to fix that. What a disaster that was. It was all rotted from water damage. We’re not used to having a tub/shower insert and didn’t realize what was going on up there. I didn’t even notice when I cleaned because it’s tall, so I would just stand on my tippy toes and wipe it off. I noticed from my angle that the paint was coming off but I didn’t think it was actually rotting up there. Now, when we get out of the shower, we’ll wipe it off with a paper towel right away so that the water can’t accumulate up there and cause damage again. You live and learn.

Half of the time, I had to sit there and hold the ladder while my hubby painted. The bathroom is so small that it was very hard to position the ladder so that he could reach to do the trim at the top. Then one night, the light bulb on the utility light exploded, which left us without light until the morning. Just when we thought we were finished, we take the tape off, and it rips the paint 🙁  Everywhere!  I could have cried. I think I did. At that point, my husband lost his patience, so… I was the one who had to fix it. That took two days and used up what was left of my patience.

Finally, it’s done. Now we just need to re-caulk the countertop and replace all of the fixtures. One fixture at a time, lol. At least it feels comfortable in there now. Clean, and cozy 🙂 And if you’re wondering about the color… I can’t afford to replace the countertops, and the only colors that would match are gray, white or this shade of purple. First, you can probably tell that I hate white walls, I don’t care what the current trend is. Second, the countertops in the master bath are the same color, and I plan on doing gray for my bathroom. I didn’t want to do gray in here too, so we choose the purple. I still like it better than white.
